This title from Puffin's Extreme Expeditions series is packed with interesting information on the exploration of the polar regions.  Its friendly style and short sentences make the book easy to read without being childish while the varied layout uses maps, photos, fact boxes and section headings to make the text look accessible and encourage browsers to dip in and start reading. The excellent cover immediately caught the attention of my tester who is a very reluctant reader himself He thoroughly enjoyed the book, especially the illustrations and funnier details, and is sure others will too.
